Welcome

Prince and Princess 2006 O'Shari Tomlinson & Dwaniqua BairdThe Prince and Princess Show, one of the events staged during the Summer Festival, showcases the talent and abilities of Anguilla's younger populace; providing positive avenues for self expression and cultural participation. Children and young adults come out in numbers to support the couple representing their respective primary schools as they compete in the three segment competition namely, speech, talent and evening wear. This year's show will be held under the theme 'Preserving our past, protecting our future.' It is closely related to the festival's slogan 'Strictly Culture Driven Anguilla's Summer Festival 2007.'

Our pre-show activities are geared towards enhancing the participants' general knowledge concerning Anguilla's history and culture and their personal as well as social development. Some of these activities include workshops on etiquette, self esteem, hygiene and grooming, a visit to the Heritage Museum and lessons on alcohol and drug prevention. In addition, we are planning the following:-

  • Picnic to Sandy Island
  • Island tour
  • Ice Cream and Pizza Evening
  • Radio Interviews

Princess and Princess 1989 Garson Kelsick & Erica EdwardsThe Show may come once a year and the group (contestants, chaperones, and committee members) may all seem temporary, but the Prince and Princess Show gives participants, chaperones and committee members a chance to build life long friendships whilst demonstrating team work, patience and dedication. Such opportunities impact young lives, contributing rich, cultural and social experiences.
