Miss Anguilla Contestants visit Venus Spa at Cuisinart

by Radio Anguilla, Jul 6th, 2007

Venus Spa Director at Cuisin Art Resort and Spa New York born Kathy Eggelston says the patronage from the local population is very good.

Eggelston made these observations during the spa’s complementary treatment of the reigning Miss. Anguilla and this year’s seven pageant contestants. The Saturday last relaxation treatment was in preparation for the ladies’ first appearance at Pavilion Villa that evening.

Eggelston has been in Anguilla for 6 years working with and training spa staff. She says they are ensuring the services are the best in the Caribbean. She adds that they work very hard at it and they are a great team. Eggelston says staff has been to Canada and the US for training in various areas of spa treatment including at the originators of the Hot Stone treatment as well as master aesthetician classes.

Venus spa specializes in a variety of treatments including their basic Swedish massage and the popular Deep Tissue Massage. Others include aroma therapy, couples massage, facials, manicures, pedicures, waxing, hair treatments and other specialty treatments.

Meanwhile the seven contestants of the Miss Anguilla Pageant gives high praise to Venus Spa. They say the treatment was wonderful and relaxing and a good part of the preparation for their first outing.

The ladies were presented at a first ever Red Carpet reception which featured them modeling designs by Boudoir Boutique.

The Summer Festival Queen Pageant Contestants were delighted with their treatment at CuisinArt’s Venus Spa.

Some of them shared the experience with the media.

Contestant number one Kafi Gumbs says, “We are here at Cuisinart where we just came from being pampered, we got a massage-I took a back massage.”

One of the other contestants said, “I received a full body massage front and back.  I also did a facial and I enjoyed it very much.”

Reigning Ms Anguilla Amber Woodley says, “It was wonderful and very relaxing. I didn’t want to get up and didn’t want it to end, but all good things must come to an end.”

Meanwhile, spa Director Kathy Eggelston says the Venus Spa expansion will give the facility almost 30,000 square feet. There will be 16 treatment rooms, bigger locker facilities with private changing area.

Eggelston spoke to the media about some of the features.

“A humom in each of the locker facility which is a large room that will be all marble. There will be one for the men and one for the women. There will also be radiant heat that comes up from the floor and it has all these built up marble seating areas- sought of like beaches all around.

She continued, “There will be radiant heat that comes up through the ceiling and then there is steam that comes in too. So its almost like a combination of a steam and a sauna.”

The building will be finished between December and January. It is slated for opening by March or April next year.

This is the first time Cuisin Art’s Venus Spa has given complimentary treatments to Summer Festival Queen Contestants. Eggelston says it will probably be repeated in the future.

Eggelston thanked main organizer Mirabelle West for what she described as a well orchestrated, detailed job of setting up the treatments. She also highlighted the work of her staff whom she says are very professional.  The spa has a core team of 22 including about 10 massage therapists.
